ROLEX Award for Enterprise 2017: Applications for the 2018 Rolex Awards for Enterprise are now open. Five Rolex Awards will be offered to Young Leaders, between the ages of 18 and 30 years old, who have a ground-breaking proposal or initiative that will help to expand knowledge of our world and improve the quality of life on the planet. Applications must be broadly in the areas of the environment, applied science and technology, or exploration.(Global | 30 June 2017)
African Entrepreneurship Award BMCE Bank: The African Entrepreneurship Award offers $1 million to all eligible African entrepreneurs with an existing business or just an idea for one. The Award Journey is made up of 4 rounds of mentoring and starts by you taking a few minutes to submit an idea for Round 1. The TEL-AVIV Start-up Challenge: TLV Start-Up Challenge is the largest global start-up competition in Israel that brings together the top startups, entrepreneurs, and VCs from all over the world. We are looking to find the most exciting start-ups in the world who offer disruptive and innovative solutions to the global marketplace in industries including Fintech, Energy, Cars, Cybersecurity, Media, Gaming, and IOT. Ideas Challenge by Imprezzio: The best startups/ ideas can obtain investments from our company. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation) continues to recognize the organization that best exemplifies Peter Drucker’s definition of innovation: “change that creates a new dimension of performance.” Beyond the cash award, The Drucker Prize offers nonprofits a host of practical insights to help them become more innovative and more effective.
UNESCO-Hamdan Prize 2017: The UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Teachers was created in 2008 to support the improvement of teaching and learning quality in achieving the Education for All goals, which is one of UNESCO’s priorities. Asia Education Initiative Grant 2017: ICNL is pleased to announce an Asia Education Initiative (AEI) to support the study of civil society law at universities and schools of law in eligible countries in Asia. The AEI will provide grants to support the creation of an education initiative on civil society law. Grants will generally be in the amount of $5,000 – $10,000, however, reasonable proposals for a level of funding beyond this range will also be considered.
BCFN Young Earth Solutions Research Grant 2017: BCFN Young Earth Solutions (YES) is an international competition for young researchers from all over the world. It was first launched in 2012, with the aim of rewarding the best ideas about food and sustainability. The 2017 BCFN YES! Research Grant Competition invites young Ph.D. and postdoc researchers from any background and nationality to submit a research project to improve the sustainability of the food system. AU Projects Funding Call for Proposals: The African Union (AU) is pleased to announce the call for the submission of project proposals under theme n°10 of the African Women Decade namely “mentoring youth (women and men) to be champions of gender equality and women’s empowerment”. Proposals will be funded for one year with a ceiling up to thirty thousand dollars ($30,000). (Regional – Africa | April 15, 2017).
Early Career Academic Grants 2017: Is open to early career academics employed by ACU member universities, enabling them to participate in a conference held in a Commonwealth country other than their own. A minimum of 30 grants is on offer in 2017. At the time of application, applicants must be employed in an academic role by an ACU member institution. (Commonwealth | 2nd April 2017)
Grant for professional Innovation in Pharmacy 2017: The grant platform sponsored by the Young Pharmacists Group (YPG) and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) foundation for education and research is aimed at encouraging research and innovation among young pharmacists in any field of Pharmacy. UNESCO – Open Multiple Fellowships: Fellowships are an effective modality for UNESCO to enhance the human resources and capacity-building of Member States, especially developing countries. Fellowships are specially tailored training which is designed to give qualified persons practicing or intending to practice a profession in the field of the UNESCO program priorities an opportunity to receive additional and practical training, thus contributing to the advancement and circulation of knowledge and skill promoting development and international understanding.
The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship 2017: Also referred to as WU Scholars, is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue a post-secondary education. Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition or school fees at an accredited post-secondary institution and will be selected based on criteria relating to the program’s three pillars: Perseverance, Aspiration, and Community. Africa Day 2017 Writing Competition: Irish Aid and The Irish Times have joined up again to promote aspiring, emerging and established writers, to celebrate Africa Day 2017! The short story and poetry competition, which is in its third year, seeks to discover new writing talent, as well as showcase established writers. (Global | 3rd May 2017)
Commonwealth Women Mentorship Scheme: The Commonwealth Women’s Mentorship Scheme will match aspirational young women with experienced professionals in their fields. It is open to Commonwealth citizens between 18 and 29 who have demonstrated leadership and drive in their careers or in community projects. (Commonwealth | 30th April 2017)
British Council Future Leaders Connect: Offers you a chance to connect to a long-term network of emerging leaders from around the globe, who want to change the world through policy making. They are accepting applications from individuals living in Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tunisia, and the UK. (14th May 2017)
OPEC Young Professional Development Program: OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) organises the YPDP which is a structured 2-3 year program that has been designed to attract and develop young professionals from OFID’s Member Countries, and aims at equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the minimum requirements for OFID’s entry-level professional positions.
Grameen Foundation Fellowships, Bankers without Borders: Launched in 2013, the Grameen Foundation Fellowship is a unique opportunity for talented business and technology professionals to gain in-depth, hands-on experience in the social sector. Nordic Africa Institute Scholarship 2018: The purpose of the Guest Researchers’ Scholarship Programme is to provide opportunities for postdoctoral researchers in Africa to pursue their own research projects, thereby indirectly strengthening the academic milieux in African countries. The scholarship offers access to the Institute’s library and other resources that provide a stimulating research environment. Through the program, the Nordic Africa Institute can establish and maintain relations with and between African and Nordic research communities. (Regional-Africa | April 1, 2017)
Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU 2017): Building on the successful model of the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together world leaders to take action on global challenges, President Bill Clinton launched the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in 2007 to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world. Each year, CGI U hosts a meeting where students, university representatives, topic experts, and celebrities come together to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges (Students | March 1 & May 1, 2017).
2017 Prize for Education for Sustainable Development: UNESCO is seeking nominations for the third edition of the UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Endowed with a total of USD 150,000 to be divided among three recipients, the Prize aims to honor and showcase outstanding ESD projects and programs worldwide. Nominations can be submitted to the Director-General of UNESCO by Governments of Member States via their Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, and by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in official partnership with UNESCO. Each Permanent Delegation or NGO can make up to three nominations for any edition of the Prize. Self-nominations are not accepted (Global | May 2, 2017).
